Guests of all ages are invited to attend this year’s Asian Culture Festival, which will take place Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fruit and Spice Park, located at 24801 S.W. 187th Ave. in Homestead.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Miami is sponsoring Ikebana demonstrations (the art of Japanese flower arrangement) by Miami Chapter 131 of Ikebana International and four Taiko drumming performances by Fushu Daiko. Guests are also invited to stop by the Japan tent to try their hand at Origami and Japanese calligraphy.
Additionally, immediately following the Taiko drumming performance on Sunday at 1 p.m., Consul General Ken Okaniwa of the Consulate-General of Japan in Miami and Director General Philip Wang of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Miami will give remarks about the festival and its significance in South Florida.
Sponsored by the Thai-American Association of South Florida, the Miami-Dade County Asian Advisory Board and Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation, the Asian Culture Festival takes guests on a day trip around Asia, allowing attendees to experience a variety of authentic Asian arts, crafts, entertainment, plants and exotic cuisines.
Admission is $12 for adults, $5 for children ages six to 12, and free for children under the age of six.
