The Frank, in partnership with the Broward County Cultural Division and Broward County Environmental Planning and Community Resilience Division, presents “Art for the Earth: Artists on Climate Change” on Thursday, October 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Frank art gallery in Pembroke Pines.
Art for the Earth is part of the international series “Climate Change Theatre Action” in which more than 140 collaborators in 23 countries host events to reach an audience of more than 12,000 people. Pembroke Pines is one of 60 cities across the United States that is participating in the series.
A multidisciplinary event where artists will unite to discuss climate change and environmental conservation, the evening includes a theatrical performance by Kellianne Jordan, a pop-up exhibition by visual artists Kim Heise and Lucinda Linderman and readings by Clayre Benzadón, Christell Victoria Roach and Caitlin Andrews, poets from University of Miami’s Sinking City literary magazine.
“We are thrilled for The Frank to act as a convergence space for artists to openly discuss the important and timely topic of climate change,” said Taryn Möller Nicoll, chief curator of The Frank. “The Frank is proud to represent the City of Pembroke Pines in this dynamic series and we commend Climate Change Theatre Action for the significant work the organization is doing worldwide.”
