Broward Education Foundation, the only 501(c)3 charitable organization solely dedicated to supporting Broward County Public Schools, announced it received a $24,000 grant from Community Foundation of Broward.
The grant will fund expenses associated with Broward Education Foundation’s newly established Proactive Preparedness Planning (P3) initiative, a comprehensive business continuity plan. The plan is designed to offset potential business interruptions and sustain optimal business operations during a time of crisis, such as power outages due to natural disasters.
Broward Education Foundation will utilize the much-needed funds to enhance and upgrade its backup communications platform. The grant will finance eight 3,600W portable solar generators, solar panels and mobile hotspots to safeguard against electrical outages and enable the non-profit to fulfill its mission of serving students and teachers in Broward County Public Schools.
“We are incredibly grateful to Community Foundation of Broward for inviting us to participate in its enlightening Hidden Heroes Resiliency Cohort Training program which was the impetus for our new P3 initiative,” said Shea Ciriago, executive director of Broward Education Foundation. “This generous grant will enable us to substantially upgrade our communication infrastructure and improve our ability to provide supplemental services, programs and supplies for students and teachers in Broward County Public Schools.”
Additionally, the grant will further strengthen the organization’s foundation and resiliency by providing it with vitally needed non-profit enterprise resource planning software. The upgrade, which includes licensing and training, will ensure accurate recording, reporting and customizing donor tracking capabilities to boost charitable financial contributions.
Support has been provided by the following Funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: The Knight Foundation Fund, Francis J. Crowley Fund, Robert Frederick Giese Fund and the Frank D. and Anita M. Butler Endowment Fund.
