AutoNation Associates Donate Comfort Bags to Tampa Bay Area Cancer Patients During 7th Annual DRVPNK Across America Day

Moffitt Cancer Center, American Cancer Society – Hope Lodge Tampa were beneficiaries of DRVPNK comfort bags

Cancer patients throughout the greater Tampa Bay metro area received comfort bags filled with blankets, socks, messages of hope and more, thanks to AutoNation, Inc. (NYSE: AN) Associates. Representing the company’s 13 dealerships throughout Tampa Bay, Associates donated comfort bags for cancer patients served by Moffitt Cancer Center, American Cancer Society – Hope Lodge Tampa.

AutoNation, America’s largest and most admired automotive retailer, celebrated its 7th Annual DRVPNK Across America Day to support the company’s ongoing commitment to “drive out” cancer. Messages of hope written by Associates were placed into the comfort bags to date, more than 15,000 comfort bags have been delivered nationwide to children and adults undergoing treatment.

As Florida’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and one of only 30 leading cancer centers in the U.S. participating in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, Tampa-based Moffitt Cancer Center is dedicated to one lifesaving mission: to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer.

The American Cancer Society – Hope Lodge provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers. Each Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening’s activities, or unwind in their own private room. Patients staying at a Hope Lodge must be in active cancer treatment and permanently reside more than 40 miles away from their cancer treatment center.

The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation is dedicated to funding research to eliminate childhood cancer. Its focus is to find less toxic, more effective treatments through the Sunshine Project, a collaborative research initiative with 30 hospital partners and leading scientists. Since its inception, the NPCF has donated more than $30 million to research.

AutoNation is recognized for “turning the auto industry pink” through its singular charitable mission, Drive Pink (DRVPNK). For every vehicle AutoNation sells or services, the company is driving towards $35 million donated to fight cancer. During November, AutoNation’s Cash Register Challenge partnered with the Dick Vitale Pediatric Fund at the V Foundation to support and raise funds for innovative pediatric cancer research. Customers could add donations to their credit or debit card transactions at all AutoNation dealerships, stores, and collision centers. Donations of all types and sizes were gratefully accepted and 100% of the funds raised went directly towards helping pediatric cancer patients and their families in many meaningful ways, as well as supporting scientific research to find a cure.
