MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (February 2, 2017) – The Miami HEAT and BankUnited will award $25,000 in scholarships to five outstanding high school seniors attending school in Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe or Palm Beach County.

“BankUnited is proud to partner with the Miami HEAT to help send deserving South Florida students to college,” said BankUnited President and CEO Rajinder P. Singh. “For the fourth consecutive year, we are honored to play a part in helping students pursue their dreams of earning a college degree.”

Now in its 21st year, the Miami HEAT Scholarship Program recognizes students based on excellent academic performance, exceptional community service and financial need. Scholarship awards will be applied toward the winners’ first year college tuition in the Fall of 2017.

Recipients will be presented with their scholarships during a special halftime presentation at a game in April.

“As stewards of the South Florida community, the Miami HEAT have a responsibility to nurture the youth and pave a path for its success through a number of initiatives,” said Eric Woolworth, President of The HEAT Group’s Business Operations. “Thanks to the generosity of our partners at BankUnited, we are able to offer five HEAT Scholarships to deserving seniors with the hopes of jumpstarting the careers of South Florida’s next leaders.”
