Morton’s The Steakhouse Celebrates Miami Beach Grand Opening

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (October 7, 2009) – Morton’s The Steakhouse recently celebrated the grand opening of its new location in Miami Beach by hosting nearly 400 invited guests to a special evening benefiting the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The restaurant held a silent auction that raised more than $3,800 for the organization, which is South Florida’s only university-based cancer center and is the hub for cancer-related research, diagnosis and treatment at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine.

“We welcome Morton’s to the community with open arms,” said Dr. Jerry Goodwin, executive director of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. “Here among good friends, delicious food and fine wines, Morton’s provided us with the perfect platform to raise money and awareness for life-saving initiatives. We appreciate the support.”

Preceding the grand opening party, Morton’s welcomed Miami Beach Commissioner Ed Tobin and Dr. Goodwin to a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the restaurant’s seventh location in South Florida.

“Today we celebrate the opening of our new Miami Beach restaurant with a tribute to the amazing work taking place at Sylvester,” said Chad Lipson, general manager of the Miami Beach restaurant. “At Morton’s, we are committed to supporting our community.”

Renowned from coast to coast for its signature menu and legendary hospitality, the Miami Beach Morton’s continues to follow the company’s tradition of serving only the finest quality foods, featuring USDA prime aged, grain-fed beef, fresh fish and seafood, choice produce and a selection of delicious appetizers and elegant desserts – prepared to perfection and served in a lively atmosphere.
