Dairy Queen® Waffle Cone Blizzard® Treat to Replace Statue of Liberty Torch?

MINNEAPOLIS – The Dairy Queen® system, part of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A and BRK.B), announced today, April 1, that it will petition the National Park Service to replace the Statue of Liberty torch with a DQ® Confetti Cake Blizzard® Treat in a Waffle Cone in preparation for the treat leader’s first ever location set to open in Manhattan this spring and to celebrate the chain’s nationwide launch of Waffle Cone Blizzard Treats.

The iconic brand plans to partner with one of the most recognizable global monuments, which is an endearing symbol of the country’s freedom. The idea came about because The DQ Waffle Cone Blizzard Treat is an almost identical shape of the torch. The Dairy Queen system also announced that regardless of the National Park Service’s decision and because of the company’s respect for the integrity of Lady Liberty, a $5,000 donation will be made to the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation toward her restoration.

In April, the treat leader is featuring the Confetti Cake Blizzard Treat as the Blizzard of the Month as well as Waffle Cone Blizzard Treats.
